What is ADSL?
ADSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is broadband technology that provides high speed data transmission (up to 7.1 Mbps) over an existing telephone line. Speeds are up to 50 times faster than a standard 28.8 Kbps dial-up modem. Plus, ADSL Service is instant - with one click you have a lightning-fast connection to the Internet. Bealenet is partnering with Verizon's line of ADSL products which are called Infospeed ADSL. The technology requires that the end user be within 16,000 to 18,000 feet of an ADSL-equipped central office. For more in depth details on what ADSL is, check out whatis?com's DSL Explanation.
Currently Bealenet is offering ADSL services in the town of Bowling
Green, Ladysmith, King William (Central Garage area) and the town of Tappahannock.
With ADSL, you can use a single telephone line for high-speed data communications,
including uploading and downloading multimedia. You can also use the same
line simultaneously for voice or faxing.
Connections to Internet service providers or corporate LANs are virtually
continuous. There are no call setup delays or busy signals. A single click
on an icon provides an immediate connection. Employees working from home
can access their company's data network quickly and efficiently with the
speed afforded by ADSL service.
ADSL technology also provides broadband connectivity for high-speed services
such as video-on-demand, home shopping and distance learning.

Non recurring cost to setup your ADSL service .
Verizon will charge to your phone bill a $60.00 install fee and $49.00
for your modem and installation kit with filters for your phones.
Bowling Green Electronics will charge a $40.00 install fee to setup routing and assign one static ip address to each ADSL connection.
If you don't feel comfortable doing the installation yourself, we have arranged with several computer repair companies in the area to have someone come to your house or business to setup and install your modem and configure your computer. The fee for this will be $90.00 which will include an ethernet card if your computer does not have one. This fee will be paid to the vendor when they arrive.
To see if your phone line is able to handle ADSL service, please complete the form below and we will test your line to see what tier of service you can use.
We will respond with an email message to let you know what
level of service you can use. Testing will be done Monday through Friday
from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm. Any request after hours or on weekends will
be done on the next business day. Please allow at least 24 hours for
testing to be completed.
